As PHAROS works to extend the impact of previous Mission Ocean initiatives, one of the most valuable legacies from ProBleu is the collection of 111 Blue School projects funded across 44 European and associated countries between 2023 and 2026.
These initiatives engaged students, teachers and local communities in activities related to ocean and water literacy, addressing topics such as marine biodiversity, freshwater ecosystems, pollution, climate change and citizen science.

The compilation provides a source of inspiration for educators, schools and organisations interested in developing Blue School activities and community-based environmental projects. It showcases a wide variety of approaches, methodologies and local actions that can help inform future initiatives aligned with the objectives of the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters.
The full compilation is available on Zenodo.
Together with sister projects SHORE and BlueLights, ProBleu contributed to strengthening ocean and water literacy across Europe through educational resources, teacher training, community engagement activities and support for schools participating in the Network of European Blue Schools. A joint recap video highlights the achievements of the three projects and the lasting networks.
Building on this legacy, PHAROS will continue supporting the growth of the European Blue Schools Network particularly through its Living Labs. By connecting schools, educators, researchers and local communities, PHAROS aims to foster place based learning, citizen engagement and environmental stewardship, helping more schools become active contributors to the Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters.
